VMC could not accomplish its mission of ending and preventing homelessness without partnering with the community. One of these very special partnerships developed thirteen years ago with the Episcopal Church of the Ascension’s Circles of Support. Circles of Support is a group of 4 to 5 people that befriend those that have achieved housing at Minvilla Manor developing a friendship over time. Bert Ackerman joins Bruce in this episode to share his experience of Circles of Support. Bert relates it can take a while to develop a friendship, but the end result is worth it for everyone. Bert also relates that he has overcome many misconceptions about homelessness and has learned to be-friend without trying to fix someone.
